Just Thinking...what can I do next?

"Grandma's Boy"

Watercolor on Paper
8x7

Commissioned Watercolor Portrait
_________________

This is Wil...the first grandson of one of my friends. I'm not sure this is quite as good as my last watercolor portrait. It seems a tad overworked in a couple of places yet it does resemble him nicely.

Will has the most beautiful little 'pursed' mouth and gorgeous hazel eyes. There was so many colors in his eyes that it was hard to get them all in. I really struggled with his hair...you know me and my thing for detail. I almost blew it here!!

*You can see a larger version of this Watercolor Portrait in My Little Paint Box Collection

Anyway...here it is, one more portrait for you to take a look at. Enjoy

Hi Marsha,
The portrait of Will is so nice and you did a good job. He is so cute. It does not look like watercolor. It must have taken you a long time.

Ruth,
Thank you for your comments. Will is his grandma's pride and joy. As all grandmas know, there is just something extra special about the 'first'.

Actually, even with all my difficulty with watercolor...the medium is much faster than pencil. The paper is covered much quicker and the detail is less precise (or should be).

I just need to learn when to back off and say "it is done".

Hi Marsha,

Here I go messing with your self critique: I like this one even more than the girl with the big hat, could be I'm partial to chubbycheeked babies, but you've made me think I know this baby, or want to :)
Anyway, I vote: nice job!

Cooper,
I always enjoy your comments. Perhaps I like the portrait of Christina because of the unique composition and exciting reference photo I had to work with. I'm attracted to the 'unusual' or unexpected in a subject. Let's face it, the portrait of Christina is certainly an unexpected opportunity.

Where as the portrait of Will is a more common reference. But you're certainly right on about those chubby baby cheeks...don't ya just want to squeeze them??

I like them both. Just would like will to have been a touch happier. He appears to be waiting for His food. But He so adorable.
Hope our health is much better. I am getting over my Palsy. Hopefully, back at work the last week of this month.

Sherrie
