About the Artwork... FAQ's Guarantee Purchasing

About the Artwork:
A single drawing of this size can take 50 to 100 hours from start to finish.

Each original drawing...is rendered on cream toned 100% acid free art paper.  I use a combination of carbon, charcoal, and graphite in each piece as the subject requires, for depicting depth and texture.  With the exception of some of my commissioned pieces, most of my original drawings range in size between 6x6 and 12x18.  Drawing is all about the detail, and a single drawing of this size can take 50 to 100 hours from start to finish. I try to produce 8 to 10 new pieces each year.

To make my work available to more people, I offer Artist Proofs, Limited Editions, and Open Editions.  These are printed on a slightly textured cream toned acid free paper using the Giclee printing process.

Gift Vouchers:
Illustrated gift vouchers are available in any $$ amount...they are unique and personal, making them an ideal gift choice for both friends and family.  Your gift voucher is printed on high quality card stock and includes an illustration of your choice, (from my portfolio), the gift amount, and a "personal message" from you.

FAQ's
Open and Limited Editions...
what is the difference?
Open editions are reprinted whenever stocks run out.  There may be hundreds or thousands of any one image in existence.  Limited Editions are printed just once.  If I decide to release a print in an edition of 300 prints I will, typically, have 330 printed.  Of these, 300 are reserved for the main edition, 20 are set aside as Artist Proofs and the others are used to replace damaged prints.  Any remaining after the edition is sold out are destroyed.  These are full sized reproductions, signed and numbered by the artist, and presented in a 3" cream toned double mat, with a Certificate of Authenticity.  Remarques are available.

What are Artist Proofs...and why are they more desireable?
Artist Proofs (AP) are a collectors edition of a Limited Edition print.  I will typically produce a Limited Edition (LE) of 300 prints plus 20 APs.  So I have a regular edition of 300 prints and each print is numbered out of 300.  In addition I have a small extra edition of 20 prints and a collector often prefers to buy a more expensive print numbered out of 20 as this is a more exclusive edition.

What are Certificates of Authenticity?
These certificates are issued with every Original Drawing and Limited Edition Print, and are personally signed by me, Marsha Robinett.  They provide proof that the art is authentic.  They are also proof of ownership, and should be kept in a safe place...never attached to the back of the frame.

What is a Remarque...and why does it cost more?
Remarques (also known as Remarks) are small original drawings applied to one or more margins of a print, usually a limited edition.

In common practice most painters Remarques consist of relatively quick pencil sketches.  However since I draw and Remarque in pencil my Remarques are of a similar quality to the main body of work.  These Remarques take over 6 hours to produce.  They are of a subject that relates to the main body of work and are usually around 1 1/2" x 3" in size.  One can expect a Remarque to add around $100 to the cost of your print...you can also expect it to add value to your print.  Please remember to allow extra time.
