This commission was very special. It was done at the request of adult children for their mother as a Christmas gift.
The main photo reference was an older sepia toned photo taken when they were children. A portrait drawn from an old photo can bring to life cherished memories and will be passed on for generations to come.
With this in mind we decided to do individual portraits that could be passed on to their grandchildren some day.
Peggy's portraid proved to be more difficult than her brothers. I used a combination of Graphite and Carbon pencil. Her soft baby face and blond curly hair were particularly a challenge to convey without loosing that softness. And the shiney dress...we won't even go there.
