Reference Photo:
Hallie Mae, age 7, was calm and content waiting with the family for the cat show to begin at the McLean County Fair.  Grandma said this photo revealed a little girl who is peaceful yet has just a hint of mischief in her eyes.  She said that Hallie was a funny, clever, entertaining child that was very fond of animals and seemed happiest when surrounded by a menagerie of furry friends.

I will admit that the photo reference chosen for Hallie, in the beginning was not my favorite, but as I began to draw I saw everything Grandma was talking about.

Her hair looks a little "moist" from the heat of the day yet she is content.  I tried to convey the mischief in her eyes and oh yes we had to include those lovely freckles.
